It’s not enough to have a good story to tell to be a successful writer. You must relate to your readers. Each reader is different, as each person is different, but we can find things in common that help us relate to each other. This relationship is where you find your market, as not everyone will want to read your genre. But building this relationship with your readers needs hard work from the author. Each book you write should grow that empathy with your target audience and this means you need to develop your craft and better understand your reader to improve your relationship with them. After all, you are in a relationship with every reader that follows you.
